Irish
Draught Horse Society North America
- The Irish Draught Horse Society North America was formed in 1993 and is
officially recognized by the Irish Draught Horse Society of Ireland and
its counterpart the Irish Horse Board (Ireland). As such, it maintains
the studbook and registries for qualified Irish Draughts and Irish Draught
Sport Horses in North America. Sister organizations include the Irish
Draught Horse Society of Canada, Irish Draught Horse Society of Great
Britain, Irish Draught Horse Society of Australia and the Irish Draught
Horse Society of New Zealand.
The
purpose of the Society is to preserve and promote the Irish
Draught Horse and its part bred, the Irish Draught Sport Horse, throughout
the United States and Canada.
North West Region
- The vast North West Region includes
Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and the North West
portion of Canada including British Columbia and western Alberta. As one
of six geographic regions of the IDHSNA, the North West Region has an
outstanding and diverse selection of qualified Registered Irish Draughts
and Registered Irish Sport Horses. While members are ever challenged with
the huge geographic scope of the Region, an active group participates at
various venues around the Region, including nationally recognized shows,
events and competitions.
With the number of
horses and dedicated participation of membership, the North West Region
consistently hosts inspections conducted by Irish Inspectors for the
inspection and approval of horses into the IDHSNA Studbook. These
inspections are typically held annually and are organized at various
locations across the region.
